John 15 - The Vine and the Branches

1"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He cuts off  every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

FREE bible on Java mobile phone - Go BibleChristmas promotion is coming! Want to pamper yourself or your love ones with a mobile phone, Pocket PC or iPhone? One factor you might want to consider when buying a gadget is: whether it supports FREE bible software; yes, God's gift - bible - is freely given :)

I have tested a couple of FREE bible software on PDAs. My favourite software are: "Go Bible" and "e-Sword". This article here compares the bible software that run on different types of PDA (Mobile Phone / Pocket PC / iPhone). Note that this is only a guideline; the functionality of the software varies in different models. It is highly recommended that you test it (or do market research) before you purchase the PDA.

The table here indicates whether the FREE bible software (Go Bible or Pocket e-Sword) is supported in different types of PDAs.

Go Bible

Next best overall choice:

The best for study: The NET bible

My comments:

Mobile Phone

If you ask me to choose only one of the above gadgets, I would prefer mobile phone because I find Pocket PC and iPhone too bulky to put in my pocket. However, as the screen is relatively small, you might find it difficult to read.

Pocket PC

Some of my friends like Pocket PCs; they don't mind it is a little bigger than mobile phone. The plus about Pocket PC is that it supports both Go Bible as well as Pocket e-Sword. On top of that, it allows you to edit Mobile Office documents (i.e. Mobile Word, Mobile Excel) that can be transferred to/from your desktop PC. Do note that the user interface is NOT as good/intuitive as iPhone.

iPhone is the all time favorite if you have budget. But bear in mind that many software requires connection to Internet. Hence, it will be very useful only if you subscribe a data plan to surf Internet. Hence, it is a rich man gadget :) I am NOT ;p If you are VERY rich, buy ALL and give one to me :)

Free free to post your comments to share with us :) Give me a five stars if you feel like it. ;)

Divine Healing Part 3 – Sin, Doctor, Medicine

Salvation, Sin

There is another important matter concerning divine healing. You must first examine yourself to see whether you are sincere and prepared to receive His salvation? If so, you will be like a boy who wants only the gift of his father and not the father himself.  This is the procedure of divine healing: God forgives sins before He heals.

You should be careful not to sin again after being healed by God.  God certainly will not give you health and strength to love the world.  You must heed what the Lord said to the man who was healed after being sick for 38 years: “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you” (John 5:14).  These words are addressed to everyone whom God has healed.

If you want to be healed, you must first believe in three things:

1. The Word of God.

view next article - Divine Healing Part 2 - Your faith have made you well. Mar 5:34
Mar 5:34 Daughter, your faith has made you well.
We must believe that God’s word is powerful.  He created the universe and all things therein all by His word.  For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast (see Ps 33:9).

2.  The Blood of the Lord Jesus.

Since we know that sickness comes from sin, we should ask the Lord to cover our sins with His precious blood.  Then, we should overcome Satan’s evil power by the blood of Christ.

Nevertheless, we should not underestimate the devil’s works.  We must always be alert and be on guard. We should always bear in mind the victory of the Lord Jesus on Golgotha.  When He was lifted up on the cross, this was a proclamation that Satan’s plot was defeated.

If we humbly confess our sins before the Lord by the blood of Christ we can rebuke sickness in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ (Note: Saying in the name of the Lord” is not enough; one should say, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ because his precious holy name is most feared by Satan.) Then Satan and his legions will flee in terror.  Only the Lord Jesus can heal all the sick who are oppressed by Satan.

3. The Power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit gives life.  His power of an indestructible life made it possible for the Savior to be born from a virgin and to be raised from the dead.  Can’t this supernatural power of life destroy the power of sickness? Unfortunately, the works of the Holy Spirit are often hindered by man’s disbelief.

Doctors and Medicines

Divine Healing - Medicines and Doctors, Jesus Some people may ask, “Why doesn’t God let His servants experience His healing so that  they can testify for Him?” Actually, God did give them opportunities to experience the power of healing. God allowed sickness to befall them occasionally so that they might be healed and know His power of healing. However, when they had those opportunities, they consulted doctors right away because they were not willing to put away their doubts, nor believe absolutely in the word of God.  Since they failed to see the need of God’s healing grace, they refused to pay a greater price by committing themselves to Him completely.  But God still has mercy on people’s weaknesses and allows them to be healed through physicians and medication.

Some may say, “Shouldn’t physicians change their profession if the sick do not need to go to them?” This concept is not right either. God establishes doctors on earth with a great mission.  They are to help and show sympathy toward those who do not accept Christ, to those who have yet to understand the truth of divine healing and those who are weak in faith.

God bestows grace on man according to the proportion of his faith.  A person who relies on God totally will be protected by Him according to his faith “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You” (Isa 26:3).  This is the greatest blessing!

For those who do not accept the Lord, or do not know the truth or are weak in faith, or do not know how to depend on the Lord; if they do not follow their doctors’ advice, won’t they suffer and die eventually? Our loving God has prepared physicians and medication to heal these people.  The Lord once said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick” (Matt 9:12).

The Lord Himself is the greatest Physician who heals all sickness of our soul and body.  But God has another purpose: He wants to use all Christian doctors to preach to the unbelieving patients.  In fact, many Christian doctors who love the Lord have indeed given beautiful testimonies for the Lord’s name and brought many of their patients to Christ.

Video, MP3 - Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus – sung by Alan Jackson

Deeply attracted to his voice the moment I heard the song. Beautifully accompanied by only a piano.  Simple yet pure and elegant.

  Blinking cross
Matthew 18:3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Did you ever have this situation? Troubled and weary.  Too busy and paying too much attention to the problem and forgot to seek the Lord first. And amazingly, once you Turned Your Eyes Upon Jesus - said the prayer to the Lord and focus on our Lord first - problem was fixed and things turned up fine. Thank and Praise the Lord Jesus Christ!
Philippians 4:6-7

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has done. If you do this, you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

About the Song Writer: Helen Lemmel

Go to top

When Helen Lemmel was only twelve years old, her family moved from England to America. Her father was a Wesleyan Methodist pastor determined to strike out in a new area of ministry.  After a brief time in Mississippi, he moved his family to Wisconsin, where they settled.  Even at this young age, Helen showed remarkable musical gifts and her parents saw to it that she received voice lessons from the finest teachers. After she had finished school, Helen traveled to Germany for further vocal training and studied there for four years.

Returning to Wisconsin, Lemmel launched a ministry of her own, giving concerts in auditoriums and churches across the Midwest. She was also a member of a women's quartet that traveled on the Chautauqua Circuit, bringing concerts to small rural towns and villages that would otherwise have no opportunities to hear quality performers.

Although talented enough to succeed as a professional singer, Helen Lemmel sought fulfillment using her musical gifts as a form of ministry to God. She joined the faculty of the Moody Bible Institute, teaching vocal music. She served in this capacity at both their Chicago and Los Angeles campuses.

It was in the year 1918, when she was fifty-four years old, that Helen Lemmel wrote the beautiful and challenging hymn, "Turn your eyes upon Jesus".  She had been visiting with a missionary friend who had shared with her a gospel tract by Lillias Trotter, titled "Focused." The pamphlet included the statement: "So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness." The words seemed to repeat themselves over and over in her mind during the following week. In her memoirs she reports the following:

Suddenly, as if commanded to stop and listen, I stood still, and singing in my soul and spirit was the chorus, with not one conscious moment of putting word to word to make rhyme, or note to note to make melody. The verses were written the same week, after the usual manner of composition, but nonetheless dictated by the Holy Spirit.

The song was published in l922 by the British National Sunday School Union in the book called Glad Songs, which contained sixty-six other songs by Helen Lemmel and was used extensively by the Keswick Bible Conference. It was at this conference that "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" first gained popularity as a hymn of invitation and dedication to the life of a deeper commitment to Christ.

Two years later, the hymn was first published in the United States and has since been included in most evangelical hymnals.
Although she is perhaps best known for having written this favorite hymn, it was only one of over 500 hymns to come from her pen.

In addition to her reputation as a prolific hymn writer, Mrs. Lemmel is well-known in musical circles for her contributions in the field of children's music. A gifted writer as well, she composed and published several works of poetry and authored a popular book for children entitled Story of the Bible.

In her later years, Helen Lemmel settled in the Pacific Northwest, making her home in Seattle, Washington, where she became an active member of the Ballard Baptist Church. It would seem that she made the words of her hymn her personal creed as she continually turned her eyes toward Jesus, serving him faithfully until the day of her death, November 1, 1961, at the age of ninety-six.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus - Lyrics

Go to top

O soul are you weary and troubled?

No light in the darkness you see?

There's light for a look at the Saviour,

And life more abundant and free.

Turn you eyes upon Jesus,

Look full in His wonderful face;

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim

In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting

He passed, and we follow Him there.

Over us sin no more hath dominion.

For more than conquerors we are.

(Repeat Chorus)

His word shall not fail you He promised

Believe Him and all will be well.

Then go to a world that is dying,

His perfect salvation to tell.

(Repeat Chorus)

Beautiful Nature - Fire Rainbow (Circumhorizontal Arc)

Fire Rainbow Fire Rainbow
A Circumhorizontal Arc – popularly known as Fire Rainbow – is a rare naturally occurring atmospheric phenomena.

The picture was captured on the Idaho / Washington border.  The event lasted about 1 hour.

Clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20K feet in the air, with just the right amount of ice crystals and the sun has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees.

God's handiwork. Beautiful sight!

Let’s take a closer look at how the rainbow emerges from the sky.

Many people waiting for the fire rainbow to appear. Temperature … coo..oling

Sun awaiting for the fire rainbow. Fire rainbow starts appearing, like incense moving up the sky.

'Fire Rainbow' - this nickname for the halo appears to have been coined by a journalist after the great 2006 Spokane display. The halo is not a rainbow and has nothing to do with fire. Click here to find out more about the science of Circumhorizontal Arc (Fire Rainbow).

God always answers prayer

God always answer prayer

If the Lord has you on hold... hold on!
If the Lord has said "NO" to you... thank Him!
If the Lords is molding your heart and mind... go with His change!
If the Lord opens doors that you have asking Him to open... Praise Him!

Be blessed wherever you are in your life today!
God has His hands on the situation!
